Evidence of Clinical Depression in Ayurveda

Research says that 3.8% of the world’s is affected by Avasada or Vishad or Kaphaj unmada, which common mental illness, corelating to clinical depression.

In India, a survey done in 2015 by the National Mental Health Survey, revealed that nearly 15% Indian adults, mostly around 45-60 years of age, suffer certain psychological conditions, near to or similar with depression. The same survey, also revealed 2.8% Indians aging around 22-35 years, prone to danger of conditions as anxiety or vichar vayu, fear, hatred, umcompassion etc. After #covidpandemic there is steep rise in their proportion.

Ayurveda believes that without a proper psychic attitude there is no meaning of having a healthy body with absence of physical disease :

सम दोष समाग्निश्च सम धातु मल क्रियाः |

प्रसन्न आत्मेन्द्रिय मन स्वस्थ इत्यभिधीयते || (Sushruta )
