Having irregular & scanty menstruation ! Is it PCOD
No. It may be or mostly may not be PCOD?
Regular Menstruation in a healthy female typically tends to occur by 21 to 35 days. If you menstruate after 35 days and / or complete less then 8 – 9 cycles per year, then it can be matter of concern. So if your body is completing more than 9 cycles per year / though irregularly – then you can still be out of danger.
An average healthy woman typically loses about 30 to 50 milliliters of blood during her menstruation cycle. Hypomenorrhea or scanty menses are characterized individually. A normal female menstruating 30 % less than her normal blood output can be termed with hypomenorrhea or typically showing only spotting and / or only 1-2 days of mensturation as compared to her history.
In reference to PCOD, irregularity and potential disrupation of menstrual cycle is more seen rather than fluctuation of quantity. A lady with PCOD can have symptoms of hypomenorrhea or metrorrhagia – depending on factors responsible for disturbance in her body.
Ayurveda says that Artava kshaya – Kastartava – Nastartava is vata dosha predominant denegrative disorder. If kapha dosha abides with vata dosha, affecting the artava vaha stortas mula – Garbhasaya – uterus and / or artavavahi dhamani – ovaries, it leads to formation of granthi – Fibroid / cyst. If Pitta abides with vata, it leads to Metrorrhagia/Endometrosis / Adenomyosis
